Battles

Ableton visit Battles at their New York rehearsal space, onstage at Immergut Festival and in Rhode Island at Machines with Magnets studios for the recording of their new album "La Di Da Di". Along the way, we get an intimate look inside the band's set-up, their methods of composing, plus we get to know the three very different personalities that drive the band forward.

Brainwaves

http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/eunoia-seeking-enlightenment-by-tracking-brainwaves “Eunoia” is a performance that uses my brainwaves -- collected via EEG sensor-- to manipulate the motions of water. It derives from the Greek word “eu” (well) + “nous” (mind) meaning "beautiful thinking”. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a brainwave detecting sensor. It measures frequencies of my brain activity (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, Theta) relating to my state of consciousness while wearing it. The data collected from EEG is translated in realtime to modulate vibrations of sound with using software programs. EEG sends the information of my brain activity to Processing, which is linked with Max/MSP to receive data and generate sound from Reaktor. Programming: a custom written MaxMSP code & Reatkor Special Thanks: Tony Lim (sound engineer) for programming Eric Blue(open source Processing code for receiving Neurosky EEG data) For more details about the process: https://vimeo.com/67935519 My website: www.thelisapark.com

Show me the Body

Subscribe to Mass Appeal: http://goo.gl/LqG3wZ While their name may sound like some sort of twisted dare, Show Me The Body is actually just a band founded by "three Jews from New York." The crew is comprised of Julian Cashwan Pratt (banjo and vocals), Harlan Steed (bass), and Noah Cohen-Corbett (drums).
